Noise reduction is achieved by disrupting the harmonics produced when sawing certain materials and structures such as tubing and angle. An improvement in swarf clearance is also achieved.

The Kennedy holesaw ejector spring fits over the pilot drill and will compress whilst the hole is being cut; once the hole has been cut, the spring decompresses and ejects the plug of material from the hole saw.
