Dormer Machine Taps
Dormer machine tap ranges have been designed for use with a high quality floating tool holder. For synchronous tapping on CNC machines with a rigid tapping cycle, Dormer SynchroFlex tool holders are recommended for a precisely defined minimum compensation in order to maximise machine performance. This is particularly important for larger sizes of spiral flute taps.
Available in spiral point for through holes and spiral flute for blind holes with 45 spiral angle. The three radii profile, with a constant rake angle all along the flute, is specially designed to give an optimum performance and chip evacuation in materials being threaded.
Surface Treatment
Special gold finish with bright flutes/thread, or steam tempering (blue) guarantee a smooth cutting action with less build up on the cutting edge.
Manufactured from HSS-XS1 premium quality vanadium powder steel and HSCo for superior toughness and edge strength, to give a high resistance to wear and long tool life.
All taps are available in Metric thread form initially. Thread forms Metric Fine, UNC, UNF and G will be stocked from September 2010.
Short Thread Length
The short thread length means low torque and better chip evacuation.
Thread Depth
Threading to depths of up to 2.5 x Diameter.
