Sherwood Reduced Shank Drills (Blacksmiths) - 1/2" Parallel Shank HSS

General-purpose drills for light duty work, for drilling steels, cast iron, nickel brass and graphite. Reduced parallel shank 1/2". Point angle 118, helix angle: normal, web thickness: standard, tolerance of diameter: h8, tolerance of shank: -0.01/0.08. Manufactured to BS328. Fracturing of the drill shank may occur if it is used for any other purpose or if extreme pressure is exerted on the drill.

Sherwood BSPT (British Standard Pipe Taper) HSS Ground Thread Die Nuts

Sherwood ground thread die nuts are suitable for repairing damaged or crossed threads and clearing swarf from threads. When using a die nut (on an existing thread) it is not necessary to apply the same level of precise initial alignment required to form a new thread (i.e. with a die) as the nut will follow the existing threads. They are supplied as hexagon drive allowing them to be turned by a standard spanner or adjustable wrench without the need for a special stock. Conform to: BS 1127.

Manufactured with precision ground flutes for producing accurate thread forms, Sherwood Taps are available in all the popular thread forms and as straight Flute `Hand` Taps in 3 leads, Fluteless, Spiral Flute, or Spiral Point Machine Taps and also Long Series.

Sherwood Tap dimensions conform to ISO529 apart from NPT Forms which conform to ANSI 94.9. Straight Flute and Fluteless Taps are manufactured with a standard Bright Finish whereas the Machine Taps have an Oxidised Finish for best results dissipating the heat build-up associated with these applications.

Thread Forms are Class 2 medium fit tolerance.

Taper Taps Metric Fine Straight Flute Ground Thread HSS

Spiral Point Tap UNF (Unified Fine) Ground Thread HSS

A spiral point tap has a chiselled point that pushes the metal chips ahead of the forming threads. This is useful when tapping through-holes (holes that extend through the work piece).

Spiral Point taps are not recommended for use in blind holes: the accumulation of chips can bind and break the tap.
