Sherwood® HSS Stepped Cone Drills

Manufactured from high speed steel, resulting in long tool life and extra durability. Each step produces specific sized parallel holes, with the maximum material thickness being determined by the length of step. The drills are capable of producing or enlarging holes in sheet metals without the need for centre punch or pilot holes and are designed for use with power tools or pedestal drilling machines, for an extensive range of industrial applications.

Sherwood Jobber Drills Bright Finish HSS

General-purpose drills for steel, cast steel, grey cast iron, malleable cast iron, nickel brass, aluminium alloy and graphite. Point angle 118, helix angle: normal, web thickness: standard, relief angle: 10-20, tolerance of diameter: h8, tolerance of shank: f11. Manufactured to BS328/DIN338RN. Bright finish: drills with a bright finish are supplied in the as-ground condition and such tools are used generally in the machining of non-ferrous materials.

Sherwood Taps

Sherwood HSS Taps are the general purpose option for thread cutting in most materials including steel, some stainless steels, cast irons and non-ferrous materials such as Aluminium, Brass and many others.

Manufactured with precision ground flutes for producing accurate thread forms, Sherwood Taps are available in all the popular thread forms and as straight Flute `Hand` Taps in 3 leads, Fluteless, Spiral Flute, or Spiral Point Machine Taps and also Long Series.

Sherwood Tap dimensions conform to ISO529 apart from NPT Forms which conform to ANSI 94.9. Straight Flute and Fluteless Taps are manufactured with a standard Bright Finish whereas the Machine Taps have an Oxidised Finish for best results dissipating the heat build-up associated with these applications.

Thread Forms are Class 2 medium fit tolerance.

Tap Set Metric Fine Straight Flute Ground Thread HSS

Sherwood HSS taper taps are used to start cutting the thread they is tapered back from the end 6 to 10 threads before a fully threaded diameter is reached this allows the tap to be positioned easily and correctly before it starts to cut the thread.

The Second tap is used after the taper tap has cut threads into the hole as far as possible. It tapers back 3 or 4 threads before full thread diameter is reached.

The Plug tap cuts threads to the bottom of a blind hole. It is only necessary to use the full set of taps when a blind hole is to be tapped.

Each set of Sherwood taps contain one taper, second and plug lead tap.

3 Flute Straight Shank Countersinks

Sherwood countersinks are a chatter-free cutter that produce an excellent burr-free finish it is capable of deburring and countersinking in one stroke with no "back-off" of tool.
Countersinking a hole leaves an angled conical, chamfered recess on the finished job, for a tapered head bolt or screw to seat correctly into this angled form. Countersink bits can be used for deburring holes as well.
It will also countersink aluminium with no secondary bulge.
Ideal for special applications and exotic materials, a choice of hard coatings is available.

Sherwood Dies

Sherwood dies are for use in die stocks to cut external screw threads on metal rod, the split in the die allows the adjusting screws of the diestock to compress or expand the die to accommodate for slight variations in size of the material being threaded or die sharpness.
