Sherwood Taps

Sherwood HSS Taps are the general purpose option for thread cutting in most materials including steel, some stainless steels, cast irons and non-ferrous materials such as Aluminium, Brass and many others.

Manufactured with precision ground flutes for producing accurate thread forms, Sherwood Taps are available in all the popular thread forms and as straight Flute `Hand` Taps in 3 leads, Fluteless, Spiral Flute, or Spiral Point Machine Taps and also Long Series.

Sherwood Tap dimensions conform to ISO529 apart from NPT Forms which conform to ANSI 94.9. Straight Flute and Fluteless Taps are manufactured with a standard Bright Finish whereas the Machine Taps have an Oxidised Finish for best results dissipating the heat build-up associated with these applications.

Thread Forms are Class 2 medium fit tolerance.

Plug Taps Metric Coarse Ground Thread HSS

The Sherwood Plug tap is used last after the Taper and Second tap have been used, when threading blind holes it cuts threads to the bottom of the hole.

Marlco Litecut Keyway Push Broaches

Manufactured to BS4235;Part 1:1972 (normal fit Js9) and DIN6885 for Metric sizes, and BS46;Part 1:1958(1985) for Inch sizes. Precision made from high speed steel and simple to use with minimal set-up. The cutting geometry will suit most materials. Push broaches are designed for use in hand-operated or hydraulic mandrel presses, depending on load. Load per tooth, given in the tables, is based on a UTS of 400N/mm2 (approx. 25 tons/sq in). For other materials, adjust accordingly. It is important that broaches are reground when blunt and before damage occurs to the teeth. The use of cutting fluid is essential, and for steel, an oil with high pressure additives is recommended. Keyways from 2mm to 25mm width and bore diameters of 6mm to 95mm are possible. Both parallel and taper keyways can be cut by using the appropriate guide. Broach style L2 and L2M require the use of an extension shank which should be ordered separately. The shims specified for standard depth keyways can be adjusted to suit particular applications. Parallel broaches are listed and supplied as standard. Litecut Keyway Push Broach - Metric Sets

Available in a choice of parallel or taper and supplied complete with the necessary shims to cut keyways to standard depth. Supplied in fitted case.

Sherwood T-Slot Cutters Threaded Shank HSS

Used for machining T-slots on slide tables, fixtures etc., to DIN 650. For milling structural, carburized and heat treated steel up to 900N/mm2. Sizes up to 16mm and 1/2" have 6 flutes and 18mm and 5/8" upwards have 8 flutes. Made to DIN 851. Shank to DIN 1835/D. Flute form 12 RH/LH.

Kennedy® Thredfloer Fluteless Taps

Form rather than cut the thread in almost any ductile material. These include aluminium, brass, copper, carbon steels, zinc and magnesium alloys and even some stainless steels. The material is "cold formed" into the relevant thread and has the advantage of being a full form thread unlike normal cut tapped holes. This make the thread stronger. The forming operation does not create chips so swarf contamination and blockage is illiminated and tap breakage reduced. Because there is no consideration for chip evacuation, Thredfloer taps can be run at higher cutting speeds and reduced cycle times. Lubrication grooves are a feature of all Thredfloer taps of M3.0 and over. These allow lubrication to reach the end of the tap to maintain tool life and to prevent damage from "Hydraulic Blow Out".

General-purpose drills to drill steels with tensile strength up to 1,000N/mm2, cast steel, grey cast iron, malleable cast iron, nickel brass and graphite. Point angle: 118, helix angle: normal, web thickness: normal, relief angle: 10-20, tolerance of diameter: h8, tolerance of f11. Manufactured to BS328:Part 1:1986, DIN340RN, ISO494. Bright finish; drills are supplied in the as-ground condition and such tools are used generally in the machining of non-ferrous materials.
