Sherwood Taps

Sherwood HSS Taps are the general purpose option for thread cutting in most materials including steel, some stainless steels, cast irons and non-ferrous materials such as Aluminium, Brass and many others.

Manufactured with precision ground flutes for producing accurate thread forms, Sherwood Taps are available in all the popular thread forms and as straight Flute `Hand` Taps in 3 leads, Fluteless, Spiral Flute, or Spiral Point Machine Taps and also Long Series.

Sherwood Tap dimensions conform to ISO529 apart from NPT Forms which conform to ANSI 94.9. Straight Flute and Fluteless Taps are manufactured with a standard Bright Finish whereas the Machine Taps have an Oxidised Finish for best results dissipating the heat build-up associated with these applications.

Thread Forms are Class 2 medium fit tolerance.

Second Tap BSW (British Standard Whitworth) Straight Flute Ground Thread HSS

The Sherwood second tap is used after the taper tap has cut threads into the hole as far as possible. It tapers back 3 or 4 threads before a fully threaded diameter is reached. If threading a blind hole a Plug tap will be required to cut threads to the bottom of the hole.

Guhring Stub Drills HSS

Ideally suited for portable drill applications where the shorter flute and stub length offer the extra rigidity normally associated with fixed drilling. Manufactured to BS328:Part 1:1986/DIN1897RN.

Series 223

Guhring Machine Chucking Reamers Intermediate Diameter HSS-E

Available in diameters ranging from 2mm to 10mm in increments of 0.01mm. Made from HSS-E steel with a bright finish, left hand spiral flute. For all ferrous and non-ferrous metals and hard and soft plastics. For use on CNC machines, producing high quality reamed holes. Manufactured to DIN 212 and DIN 2172 section 1.

Shank diameter equals cutting diameter - 0.025mm.
dia 2.00 - dia 2.65 / dia 2.66 - dia 10.00 H9.

Diameter Tolerances (to H7)
Up to 5.5mm: plus 0.004mm minus 0.000mm
Above 5.5mm: plus 0.005mm minus 0.000mm.

Code numbers are determined by the nominal diameter. Delete the decimal point; create a four figure number by preceding the figures with a zero, if required. All codes finish with the letter A, i.e. 3.60 becomes 0360A.

Sherwood Stub Drills HSS

General-purpose drills for use on automatics and turret lathes. Suitable for drilling steels, cast iron, alloy steel and malleable cast iron. Point angle: 118, Helix angle: Normal, Web thickness: standard, Relief angle: 10-20, Tolerance of diameter: h8, Tolerance of shank: f11. Manufactured to BS328:Part 1:1986/DIN338.

SwissTech 2 Flute Ball Nosed Slot Drills Threaded Shank HSS-Co 8%

Centre cutting. Threaded shank to DIN 1835B. Cutting diameter to e8. Shank diameter to h6. Available in HSS-Co 8% Uncoated (for general production machining), HSS-Co 8% TiCN Coated (extends cutter life and improves work material surface finish) and HSS-Co 8% TiALN Coated (dissipates and resists heat, reduces surface friction coupled with high surface hardness).
