This all-in-one approach may well have been a cost-saving measure, but it brings this bench-grinder a certain additional solidity. The bolt-on parts are all solid too – we particularly like the tough tool rests and their easy-to-adjust thumb screws. The 250W motor is equal to with the Best Buy for smoothness of running and it spins up to its 2,950rpm maximum unloaded speed in a couple of seconds. The motor proved to be quite stall-resistant, with only the drag of a large chisel capable of slowing the grinding wheel briefly. We don't hand out Best Budget Buy awards just because a workshop product is reasonably priced, it also has to perform well – and this Osaki does just that."
